First Snow - 2013

Late yesterday afternoon, we had our first snowfall, but it is currently raining. (Hopefully, it won't turn to freezing rain!)

Today's high is expected to be 6 degrees C (43 degrees F), going down to -3 degrees C (27 degrees F) overnight. So hopefully it will all melt, as most of the week is forecast to have above freezing daytime temperatures! (I'm not ready for winter yet - but then, I never am!!)

Back in 2011 on this date, it was windy and warm!

First Snow!

It snowed overnight! Our first snow! At  6:45 am the temperature is -6 degrees C (21 degrees F). Our high is expected to be -2 degrees C (28 degrees F) before dropping down to -7 degrees C (19 degrees F) overnight. Winter is here!

Looking Back: Last year we had our first snow on November 23! On the 26th the first snow was disappearing... Here is my November 26, 2011 post.
The Snow... is Gone  Last night's sunset foretold calm weather today, if the old saying is true:
Red sky in the morning - sailors take warning... Red sky at night - sailors delight.

The early morning sky is overcast. High today is 7 degrees C (45 degrees F) with a projected overnight low of 4 degrees C (39 degrees F).

For me the good news is... The snow has melted!
(Most of it, anyway... A few piles of snow from cleared driveways still remain.)

Partly Cloudy, Partly Sunny Day

Our pre-dawn temperature is 1 degree C (34 degrees F). It rained overnight and showers are expected this morning, but the forecast for the rest of the day is for part sun and part cloud. Our high is expected to be 12 degrees C (54 degrees F) - dropping to 6 degrees C (43 degrees F). We appear to be in a warming trend.

It's a little warmer than a year ago when I posted this weather report:
Cooler Today - But Still No Snow!

(November 11, 2011) Last night's sunset predicted a lovely day today:

Red sky in the morning - sailors take warning,
But RED SKY AT NIGHT - SAILORS DELIGHT.

The weather forecast for today is for a high of +4 degrees C (39 degrees F) - though as I write this at 6:15 am it is 0 degrees C (32 degrees F). Tonight it is supposed to go down to -1 degree C (30 degrees F)... And a few snow flurries are predicted. Hopefully when we wake up tomorrow morning, there won't be snow on the ground!

Rainy Day Ahead

The storm that hit the eastern seaboard two days ago, devastating parts of New York City and New Jersey, brought rain to Ottawa yesterday.

This is what the road looked like as we drove on the highway across town.

Rain is forecast to continue today. At 6:30 am the temperature outdoors is 6 degrees C (43 degrees F). Today's high is expected to be 9 degrees C ( 46degrees F), dropping to 2 degrees C (48 degrees F) overnight.
